How to get Digital Free TV
DIY Quick Guide | About DTV and choosing the right Antenna
Digital TV is an advanced broadcasting technology that replaces analog over-the-air broadcasting. Digital broadcasting allows stations to transmit multiple TV channels with improved picture and sound quality. Using a low cost amplified antenna, the viewer can watch many TV networks in High Definition, along with other channels in standard definition.
All with no monthly fees..
It's Simple....
To receive our station, you will have to connect your antenna to the antenna input of your DTV and re scan for new channels. Its that simple!
Most TV’s purchased within the past year, have digital tuners (DTV) built in. If you have an older TV, you may also need converter box, which is also available at most electronic stores or websites.
Choose the correct antenna.
In almost all cases, the best choice is an outdoor antenna pointed towards the TV station. In New York, you will need to point towards the Empire State Building, and in Dallas / Ft. Worth, towards the Bank of America Building in Downtown Dallas. If you are close to either of these buildings, and have a window view of the buildings, an amplified multi directional indoor antenna may be sufficient.
Check the Stations Map page to see if you are within the purple area that may get reception with an indoor multidirectional amplified antenna. If you are outside the circle, an outdoor antenna will most likely be needed. We have posted some suggestions, in the Antenna's page, about low cost antennas that we have tested. There are many others to choose from, with different costs, but always look for an amplified version with at least 5db gain for indoor reception. If the gain value is not listed, then it may not be appropriate for your use to view our stations.
The performance capabilities of TV antennas varies significantly, so make sure to talk to retail consultants, or email us for more information. Look at the information on the packaging and/or the Internet to make sure that any new antenna you may choose provides good reception of both VHF and UHF channels.
